For our 4\/12 episode of IMPULSE TRAVELS, we were especially blessed to have WONDERWHEEL RECORDINGS<\/a>‘ NICKODEMUS<\/a> and THORNATO<\/a> stop by the station to play some of their latest tunes for us.<\/p>\n

NICKODEMUS<\/strong>, co-founder of NY’s legendary TURNTABLES ON THE HUDSON<\/a> parties, took over the controls and laced us with as-yet-unreleased tracks forthcoming on Wonderwheel<\/strong>, the label he started and continues to run out of his beloved borough of Brooklyn. His selections include songs from Populous<\/strong> (Lecce), Lagartijeando + El B\u00faho<\/strong> (Argentina + Paris), DJ Khalab + Baba Sissoko + Nikitch<\/strong> (Italy + Mali + France), Alsarah + iZem<\/strong> (Sudan + NYC + France) and a few of his own unreleased productions.<\/p>\n

THORNATO<\/strong> blessed us with a live IMPULSE MIX showcasing songs from his brand new album, Bennu<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, featuring collaborations with Gappy Ranks<\/strong> (London), Spy From Cairo<\/strong> (Italy + NYC), Grupo Taribo<\/strong> (Ecuador), Zongo Abongo<\/strong> (Ghana), The Busy Twist<\/strong> (London), Kongo Elektro<\/strong> (South Africa + Memphis + DR Congo), Lido Pimienta<\/strong> (Colombia) and more. His set also includes a few of his own remixes and some yet-to-be released from the likes of Geoffrey Oryema + Eppelsuace<\/strong> (+ South Africa + Memphis) and Atropolis X Madosini<\/strong> (QNS + South Africa).<\/p>\n

We had some technical difficulties with the first part of THORNATO’s live mix, but we cleared those up and got the sound polished for the second part<\/a>, which you can check out below.<\/p>\n
